AC Systems

Today's best air conditioners use 30% to 50% less energy to produce the same amount of cooling as air conditioners from the early 1990s. Even if your air conditioner is only 10 years old, you may be able to save up to 50% of your cooling energy costs by replacing it with a newer and more efficient model.

There are many options for replacing your air conditioner. We recommend Lennox, Trane, Maytag and Carrier -- the top brand names with the finest manufactured and most efficient systems in the industry. Most of our new systems have received the Energy Star rating for high efficiency.

An air conditioner's efficiency, performance, durability and initial cost depend on matching its size to the following factors:

  •  The size of your home and the number of windows it has
  •  The amount of shade on your home's windows, walls and roof
  •  How much insulation is in the ceilings and walls of your home
  •  The amount of air that leaks into your home from outside
  •  The amount of heat the appliances and occupants in your home generate

Keep in mind that a larger air conditioner may not provide the best cooling.

  •  Buying an oversized air conditioner will cost more, as larger systems are more expensive.
  •  It will also cause the air conditioner to cycle on and off more frequently, leading to decreased system efficiency; wider fluctuation in indoor air temperatures, producing a less comfortable environment; reduction of moisture removal, which is crucial for comfort in humid climates like the Carolinas; and increased wear and tear on the system's electrical parts and compressor, decreasing the lifespan of the system.
  •  A larger air conditioner will also use more electricity and create added demands on electrical generation and delivery systems.

MTB Mechanical will perform a load calculation to be certain the system you buy or own is properly sized to your house, eliminating the risk of having a system that is too large or too small for your home.

What our clients have to say

"I would strongly encourage the owner(s) of this company to continue and be the model for the rest of the others on how a company should be run. Owner(s) & Management who know how to treat their employee's properly will always reflect that image of the company back to the customer as was the case for our Technician Ben. He is a very good example of the mirror that reflected back to us on how he enjoys working for this company. Keep up the "right" model and thank you for being that model and never compromise doing the right thing."
