Many may already know that MTB Mechanical is a family owned-company. But for Erika Carpintero, family is what also brought her to MTB.
“Both my father and my uncle work in new construction here, and have for the past eight or nine years,” Erika says. “I followed in their footsteps, starting at MTB in April 2021 in new construction installation.”
Looking to move from working out in the field to an inside office job, Erika transitioned to MTB’s billing department in February of this year. She knew she wanted to remain with the company, whom she describes as collaborative and supportive of each employees’ goals.
Erika handles the billing for the new construction department and enjoys seeing a job through the entire process. She describes her day-to-day as interesting and busy, with helpful and fun coworkers. An added bonus is that she is always learning, and being detail-oriented has made it a great fit for her.
Originally from Mexico, Erika moved to California in 2001, before coming to the east coast, first in South Carolina and, ultimately, settling in Gastonia, NC. While she likes living here, she admits that the beach is too far away!
Outside of the office, Erika enjoys cooking (Mexican food is a favorite), as well as being active at the gym, hiking, playing volleyball and taking road trips.
Even though she no longer works directly with her father and uncle, Erika is still in touch with them when processing invoices for their new construction installs. And she’s glad to be part of the MTB family.
“At MTB, you work as a team and people are caring and help each other. You’re treated like family here and feel supported,” Erika says.
