MTB Employee Spotlight: Meet April Cody

While MTB customer service dispatcher April Cody may be relatively new to the company, having joined the team in August 2021, she is no stranger to working in customer service. April comes to MTB having been awarded the #1 Salesperson Across the Nation for two years in a row at her previous company. And at MTB, she has already won two monthly competitions.

April has a knack for connecting with customers, and thinks that listening to those on the other end of the phone is so important in her role.

“I hear what it is that customers are looking for, and help answer any questions they may have about the products or services, in ways they can understand,” she says.

But it’s more than just listening that matters to April. She says that you also need to have empathy when it comes to understanding people’s budgets, and be able to provide them with options. “Maybe they prefer monthly installments for their maintenance contract if paying the annual amount at one time is difficult,” she notes. “I want to be accommodating and go above and beyond to make sure that our customers are satisfied.”

It seems fitting that April works in the HVAC industry, seeing as her great-grandfather owned one of the first heating and air companies in Mint Hill, N.C. And her father also worked in heating and air at one time.

April still resides in Mint Hill (“I’m one of the natives,” she says), and has to smile that MTB is responsible for installing the HVAC systems in the large new Epcon community being built down the road from her.

“MTB is a great company. The level of communication is wonderful and managers are hands-on with employees to get things done the right way,” April shares. “It’s a great environment and we have fun at work together. MTB understands the importance of family.”

When she’s not in the office, April enjoys DIY projects at home and riding horses, something she’s done since she was a little girl. She rides with her best friend (who owns five horses!), and Uwharrie National Park is one of her favorite places. April also has a daughter at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
