Every new home the MTB Mechanical team is involved with is an exciting endeavor, as we create plans for HVAC systems designed to keep families comfortable in their homes for years to come. But a special project in Waxhaw has had an added layer of excitement.
There were some big numbers involved in this truly special project, but it was about more than the three bedrooms, 3.5 baths and nearly 3,000 square feet. Our favorite number was $2 million. That’s how much the 2020 St. Jude Dream Home raised for the battle against childhood cancer. St. Jude Dream Homes are built across the country, and ours right here in Charlotte marks only the second ever to reach the $2 million fundraising mark.
MTB is one of many partners, like Trane and Newton Custom Homes and Realty, who come together to build the St. Jude Dream Home each year. Raffle tickets for the home are sold, and all proceeds benefit the children of St. Jude, making sure no family receives a bill for their child’s cancer treatment, travel, housing or food. Tickets for this year’s home in Waxhaw sold out in just seven days, and winner Tamiko Rhinehart won the home in October.
Floor to ceiling, this St. Jude Dream Home was built with love. Beyond designing and installing a top-notch HVAC system from Trane, MTB team members donated and raised funds to buy 2x4s for the project, then wrote messages of encouragement on them before they were installed.
