You better watch out. You better not cry. You better not pout, I’m telling you why. Family is coming to town. November and December can mean that your home is about to have extra guests, which is exciting, but it can also turn your life upside down for a few days. Aside from the laundry and cleaning, MTB offers some tips for prepping your home for your out-of-town guests:
- Make a small toiletries basket and put it in the guest bathrooms. This can include shaving cream, razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc. Anything they might forget on their trip. This will save them (and you) a trip to Target during the holiday rush.
- Start adjusting your thermostat a couple days in advance to account for the extra people. Not sure which temperature to set it? We recommended 68 degrees as a happy medium during the day. Before you turn up the thermostat even a few degrees, try adding another layer of clothing.
- Put extra blankets in the bedrooms. You never know what your guests’ sleeping preferences might be, and sometimes it can be difficult to find the temperature sweet spot when you have more people under your roof. So a few blankets will help make everyone happy and comfortable.
- Put snacks in the guest bedroom. If your guests get hungry in the middle of the night, this will keep them from wandering out into the main areas and potentially waking up everyone else.
From all of us at MTB, we hope you have a great Thanksgiving filled with good food and great family memories.
