12 Summer Activities to Do with Your Kids at Home

Summer is a time to relax, but that doesn’t mean your kids have to stop learning. Whether you want to stay cool inside (our specialty at MTB), or get outside and enjoy the warmth, here are 12 activities for you to do with your kids at home this summer.Get in the kitchen. Try a new recipe or make a family favorite. This is a great bonding experience with your kids. Don’t want to dial up the oven? Try homemade ice cream. Somehow it tastes better when it comes straight from the churn.
Let the games begin. Games shouldn’t only live on computers or tablets. Break out the board games and get competitive.
Host a neighborhood cookout. This can be fun for adults and kids alike. Throw some burgers on the grill and enjoy the summer evenings.
Have a movie night. In 2019, there are so many movies at our fingertips on every streaming platform. Find one you can all enjoy.
Camp out. You don’t have to go far to have a camping experience. Pitch a tent in the backyard, roast marshmallows and look up at the stars.
Make a lemonade stand. If you live in a neighborhood, this is a good way to teach your children entrepreneurial skills.
Have a spa day. Like we said, summer is a time to relax.Make homemade face masks and give each other mani pedis.
Get the chalk out. Have an open sidewalk or patio and an artist kid? A pack of sidewalk chalk can go a long way.
Clean out closets. While this may not seem like fun to your kids, it’s a productive activity you can do together.
Go for a walk/run. Wind down at the end of the day with a long walk or run before sunset.
Have fun in the water. If you have a pool at home, you already have this covered. If you don’t, a Slip-N-Slide or a sprinkler can still provide a lot of entertainment in the warmer months. If you’re feeling really confident, your kids will love you for a water balloon fight in the backyard.
Wash cars. This is a way for them to get out in the sun, but also cool off and have some fun.
