Is Ragweed Making You Miserable? You’re Not Alone!

The dreaded Ragweed is back in full force and it’s everywhere. A single plant can produce up to one billion pollen grains per season and because this pollen is very small and lightweight, it is easily inhaled into the lungs. If you have an allegy to ragweed then you are familiar with the misery it can cause…the itchy eyes and throat and the sneezing and coughing. Mold is also a big problem this time of year, as well. It is virtually impossible to totally avoid ragweed and mold but there are some precautions you can take to help reduce your exposure.* Avoid being outside on windy days, where pollen is being blown around in great volume.
* Use a face mask when you are outdoors especially between 5 and 10am.
* Remove pollen from your skin and hair by showering frequently.
*Keep your windows closed and turn on the air conditioner.
* Dry your clothes in a clothes dryer instead of using a clothes line.
* Remove decaying leaves from your yard and gutters
* Wear a face mask when you rake leaves.
To reduce indoor allergens, consider a whole home air purifying system from MTB Heating and Air.
