Repair or Replace? This is the question!

When is it time you should buy a new air conditioning system? This is an important decision. No homeowner wants to keep throwing money at an old AC this season, only to have it break down the following year. Knowing when you need to replace you AC system rather than repair it can be difficult. MTB Heating and Air has assembled some of the factors you should consider when you start thinking about air conditioning replacement. For all of your air conditioning repair needs contact MTB.* Age- Consider the age of your existing system. If it is getting older or if it requires frequent repair, then you may find replacement a more cost effective choice in the long term.
* Efficient Operation- The efficiency of air conditioning systems has changed dramatically over the last 5 years which is something you may want to take advantage of. If your AC is over 10 years old, it may have a SEER rating of 7 or 8. Today, the minimum SEER rating for Energy Star certification is 13. SEER stands for seasonal energy efficiency ratio and it measures the seasonal average of cooling output against the cost of input. Higher SEER ratings can make a big difference in the long-term costs of operation.
Whatever your reasons for considering a new AC this cooling system, it’s important to recognize the benefits and differences between replacement and repair. For expert advice please call MTB Heating and Air.
